Congratulations!  Summer’s here… and we’re ready for it! After months of being cooped up inside because of lockdown, and denied access to gyms, there’s nothing like getting outdoors and being active again. The warm weather and sunshine make it hard to resist long walks, trail hiking, bicycling, tennis, golf, beach volleyball, and so much more.

Unfortunately, being confined at home and missing out on physical exercise for months on end has meant that our bodies may not be quite ready for a sudden increase in outdoor activity. It’s important to take it slowly, and not push yourself too far or for too long. Takes breaks during a long activity period, drink fluids and let your body rest. If a muscle or joint starts to complain, don’t ignore it. It’s your body telling you it’s time to stop for now. Otherwise, it could lead to problems…

When your body is not yet ready for it

It’s normal to suffer an injury in the spring and summer months due to increased outdoor physical activity. However, this year, after the long period of confinement due to the pandemic, and for many people, reduced mobility as a result, we’re seeing a higher-than-average number of cases involving back or lower body pain. These injuries include:

  • Lower back muscle and joint sprains and strains
  • Knee sprains and strains
  • Ankle sprains and plantar fasciitis, which is pain in the bottom of the heel or the arch of the foot.

At Stay Active Rehabilitation, we offer effective ways to treat these conditions without the use of medications, injections or surgery, so that people can return to their regular routines and the physical activities they love.

Physiotherapy to the rescue!

It doesn’t matter how old you are. We help people of all ages overcome lower body aches and pains, using the latest methods of treatment that have been proven effective through scientific studies. With the right treatment, your muscles and joints can regain their mobility.

During your first visit, a physiotherapist will perform an assessment to determine the root cause of your problem; then provide you with a personalized treatment plan to restore function.
